Manual installation
Add printer
If you need to install SoftCopy manually for some reason (for example, if the automatic setup did not work for you), please follow these simple steps:
Open the "Printers and Faxes" window from the Start Menu.
Select "Add a printer".
Click on the "Next" button to proceed.
Select "Local printer attached to this computer". Uncheck "Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer". Then click on the "Next" button.
Select "LPT1" as your printer port. It does not matter which physical port you use, since SoftCopy is a virtual printer driver and does not write anything to the physical port.
Windows will display a list of known printers for you to choose. Click on the "Have Disk..." button instead.
Windows will now ask you for the location of the printer driver you wish to install. Select the directory where you installed the SoftCopy distribution (eg. C:\Program Files\SoftCopy). This directory should contain the file softcopy.inf and various DLL files. Then click "OK".
Click "Next" to install the SoftCopy virtual printer driver.
Click "Next" to accept the default printer name.
Select "No" unless you wish to print a test page, then click "Next" to continue.
Select "Finish" to complete the installation.
Select "Continue Anyway" if you encounter this message.
You should now see the newly-installed SoftCopy virtual printer in the "Printers and Faxes" window. Right-click on the icon and select "Printing Preferences...".
The "SoftCopy Settings" page allows you to set default print settings for all Windows applications. Please refer to SoftCopy settings for more information about individual settings.
Note that scagent.exe also needs to be running in the active session before SoftCopy can function correctly. For more information, please refer to SoftCopy Agent.
Remove printer
To remove SoftCopy from Windows, perform these simple steps:
Open the "Printers and Faxes" window from the Start Menu.
Right-click on the SoftCopy printer icon and select "Delete".
