The steps below will show you how to configure your personal
Notes R4 client for PGPNotes. You must possess an ID created with
the Notes Developer license in order to install PGPNotes. If
your ID was created with the standard Notes Desktop license,
you will not be able to complete the installation outlined
below.
Installation of PGPNotes is very simple. First, you must follow
the instructions below to create an updated template file based on
your existing mail template file (mail45.ntf).
- Add the existing mail template file to your Notes Workspace
using Database... Open.
- Create a new copy of the mail template by selecting it in your
Notes Workspace and invoke Database...New Copy.... Give the
new copy a title of PGP Mail (R4.5) and a filename of
pgpmail45.ntf. Choose Database design only for the
copy options.
- Right-click on the new copy and select Database
Properties. Under the Design tab, change the template
name from StdR45Mail to PGPR45Mail.
Note: Changing the template name is important as it will make
the template unique. Otherwise, any changes that you make to this
new template later will be replaced by the master copy on the Notes
server.
- Now, open the supplied template pgpnotes.ntf from the
\notes\data directory and add it to the workspace.
- Now, double-click on the supplied template to open it. Click on
Design, then Subforms. You should see a subform
called PGPNotes Plugin. Select it by single-clicking. Then
choose Edit... Copy.... Return to the Notes Workspace by
pressing <ESC>.
- Then, double-click on PGP Mail (R4.5) to open it. Click
on Design, then Subforms, followed by an Edit...
Paste... operation.
Note: If you have already installed the PGPNotes Plugin
subform earlier, please delete it first!
- If you are presented with this warning, answer Yes.
- If you are presented with this warning, answer No. We
want to make a distinct copy of the subform in the PGP Mail
4.5 template without linking it back to the original PGPNotes
template.
- If all goes well, you should see PGPNotes Plugin in your
list of subforms.
- Go to Forms under Design, and double-click on
Memo to open it. Now, select Create... Insert
Subforms....
- The PGP Plugin subform should be inserted right at the
top of the Memo form.
Do the same for the Reply and Reply With History
forms.
- You are now ready to use the updated template you have
created.
To prepare any mail database for use with the PGP Plugin, simply
choose File... Database... Replace Template..., and choose
the updated template you have prepared.
- Remember to select Inherit future design changes when
you replace the database design.
