If you are running KeyPass for the first time, KeyPass will ask you to choose a master password. The master password guards access to all the sensitive information you save in the encrypted database. Please use a master password that is not a standard dictionary word so that it will be difficult to crack. See Choosing a good password for some suggestions on how to choose a good master password.
When you run KeyPass again subsequently, KeyPass will ask you for the master password. Only by entering the master password correctly will you be able to access the KeyPass database. In this way, even if someone duplicates your files, he will not be able to decode the sensitive information stored within the encrypted database.
Once the master password is entered correctly, KeyPass will minimized itself to an icon in the system tray. Double-click on the icon to manage your database. Right-click on the icon to access the tray menu.
